Baghdad, Iraq-- April 20 Hussein Mohammad of Baghad reels in pain as internists and residents at the Al Yarmouk Hospital tend to wounds on his stomach. Mohammad said he received three shots to his stomach with an AK-47 while shopping near his house. Iraqi hospitals are plagued not only by the lack of resources but also from the strenous side effects of war such as doctors not being able to come to the hospitals. And patients with life-threatening injuries are remaining home longer than they should because of fear of going out in the streets at night like Mohammad. Photo by Essdras M Suarez/Globe staff
